Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Subshack Chrome extension and of www.subshack.pro (together, “Subshack”). By installing the extension or using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install the extension and do not use the site.
Who we are
Subshack is published by 404-DEV, INC. Questions about these terms go to contact@404-dev.com.
What the service does
Subshack has two halves, and they do not carry the same risk.
- The Chrome extension runs in your browser, with your own Substack session and your own access rights. It reads the performance of your own Notes and articles so they can be analysed on your device, and it drafts content — Notes, replies, article-template fills — that you review and publish yourself.
- The website offers free tools that read public Substack profiles (the profile audit, the subscribe-back checker), an optional account for billing, and an optional cloud backup of your own data.
Subshack does not publish, follow, like, restack, or subscribe on your behalf without an explicit action from you. Where a feature can act on its own, it is off by default and it says so where you switch it on.
Your account and your Substack session
The extension acts as you: it uses the Substack session already present in your browser, and it can only reach what you can already reach. You are responsible for what is published from your account, including anything drafted by Subshack that you choose to send. Keep your credentials to yourself; do not use Subshack from an account you are not entitled to use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Subshack to send spam, harass anyone, or impersonate another person or publication;
- use it in a way that breaks Substack’s own terms, or that circumvents rate limits, paywalls, or access controls on any service;
- resell, sublicense, or redistribute the extension or the output of the service as your own product;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or overload the service or the infrastructure behind it.
Content and ownership
Your content stays yours. Your Notes, articles, drafts, and statistics belong to you. Drafts and suggestions produced by Subshack are yours to use, edit, publish, or discard — we claim no ownership over them and no licence beyond what is needed to produce them for you.
Suggestions are generated by an AI model. They can be wrong, generic, or unsuitable for your audience. Review everything before publishing. Similar suggestions may be produced for other users; nothing generated is guaranteed to be unique or original, and you are responsible for the content you publish.
The Subshack name, interface, guides, and source code remain ours. Installing the extension grants you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use it — nothing more.
No guarantee on the numbers
Scores, statistics, audits, and growth estimates shown by Subshack are indicative. They are computed from what Substack exposes at a given moment, which changes without notice and is sometimes incomplete — a hidden reading list, a truncated profile, a rate-limited response. Nothing displayed is a promise of subscribers, reach, revenue, or ranking. Do not treat an audit score as professional, financial, or legal advice.
Substack is not affiliated with Subshack
Subshack is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Substack Inc. “Substack” is used only to describe what the tool works with. Substack may change its site, its data, or its policies at any time, and such a change can break part of Subshack without notice.
Paid plans
Some features may require a paid plan. Prices, billing period, and what each plan includes are shown at the moment of purchase and are what applies. Subscriptions renew until you cancel; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves you access until the end of the period already paid. Purchases made through the Chrome Web Store or another store are also subject to that store’s own rules.
Availability and changes
Subshack is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, and features described on this site may be built but not yet released. We do not promise uninterrupted service or that the extension will keep working if Substack changes.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, 404-DEV, INC. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, nor for lost subscribers, lost revenue, lost data, or any consequence of content you published — including content drafted with Subshack. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or to zero if you never paid.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only as far as the law permits, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
Ending it
You can stop at any time: uninstall the extension, and, if you created one, ask us to delete your account at contact@404-dev.com. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or use Subshack in a way that puts other users, Substack, or the service at risk. The sections on content ownership, the absence of warranty, and the limitation of liability survive the end of these terms.
Privacy
What Subshack does with your data — what stays on your device, what is sent, and what we never do — is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will appear on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continuing to use Subshack after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to 404-DEV, INC., without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protections of the mandatory law of your country of residence.
